Early life, family, and career of Kanika Dhillon

Kanika Dhillon was born in 25 August 1984. Her birthplace is Khankot, Amritsar, Punjab, India. She did her primary and secondary education from Punjab. Afterwards, she completed her undergraduate education from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Then, she pursued a master’s degree at the London School of Economics.

Career

After graduating, Kanika Dhillon relocated to Mumbai. At first, she worked as a script supervisor for Shah Rukh Khan’s production company Red Chillies Entertainment. Then, she became an assistant director for the company’s 2007 film Om Shanti Om. She also worked as a script supervisor for the comedy-drama Billu (2009). She then went on to write for two television series, the NDTV Imagine sitcom Ghar Ki Baat Hai (2009) and the Disney India children’s show Ishaan: Sapno Ko Awaaz De (2010–2011).
In 2011, she published her first novel, the satire ‘Bombay Duck is a Fish.’ This novel was also launched by Shah Rukh Khan. Kanika also served as a screenwriter for the superhero film Ra.One in 2011.

In 2012, she released her next book, Shiva & The Rise of The Shadows in 2013. In 2015, Kanika served as the writer for the Telugu–Tamil bilingual comedy Size Zero. This movie also starred Anushka Shetty and directed by Kanika’s husband.

Her next book The Dance of Durga, was released in 2016. She has written the scripts for the 2018 Hindi films —Manmarziyaan and Kedarnath. Dhillon has also written the script of Judgemental Hai Kya.

Personal life of Kanika Dhillon

In 2014, Kanika married Prakash Kovelamudi. They also got separated in 2017. During promotion of judgemental hai kya, they announced their separation and said they were already separated two years earlier. Again, in 2021, she married Himanshu Sharma.
