Shilpa started her career in the television industry in the year 2001 with the show ‘Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai’ with the role of Amrita. But she came into the limelight with the show ‘Bhabhi’ (2002-2008). After that she works on various shows such as Amarpali (2002), Hatim (2003), Miss India (2004) etc.
Shilpa debuted in the film industry with the Telugu film Chinna in 2001 and has also worked in the movie Shivani which was directed by Suresh Verma. Her breakthrough role was ‘Koyal Narayan ‘ in the SAB TV show Chidiya Ghar in 2011 where she starred opposite Paresh Ganatra. The other role that got her most popularity and fame was the role of Angoori Bhabhi in the Sitcom TV show “Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai”in 2015, she became the popular face in every household after that.
In 2017, she particular in the Colors TV show Big Boss season 11 with the popular contestants like Hina Khan, Vikas Gupta, Priyank Sharma and many more. She won the title of Big Boss 11 against Hina Khan in the grand finale. In 2022 She made her comeback after five years yo the television industry by participating in Colors TV show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’.
