Early life and family of Kuljeet Singh

Kuljeet was born and brought up in New Delhi, India. He completed his graduation in English literature. However, his degree was from Khalsa College. Moreover, his father is from Gujarat in Pakistan. His mother is from Rawalpindi. Also, they came to India during the Partition. Hence, they were unable to study beyond junior school. When Singh graduated, he was expected to become an MBA or join a proper office. 

Career

Kuljeet Singh’s career started with the Delhi stage when it was 1996. Also, he handled backstage in the drama Toba Tek Singh. However, this drama was conducted in his Khalsa College. He participated there while he was studying. Afterwards, the following year, he became the general secretary of the dramatic society, Ankur. Next, he was also president there. 

In 2019, his career took a turning point. When he was in Starbucks at Ambience Mall with his friend, he received a call. Also, this call was an offer for the role of Pritpal. Moreover, Pritpal is a character of around 50 who is afraid of germs, filth, and dirt. Also, the script is by Bhavani Iyer, and Vikram Tuli. Also, director Mayank Sharma had fleshed him out. However, Singh developed his relationship with Pritpal.

Facts about Kuljeet Singh

  • Kuljeet Singh stood also cast in his first film, Amu. Moreover, this movie dealt with the 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom. 
  • He also played an auto-rickshaw driver. Also, the driver was dragged out of his home and burnt alive. 
  • Ten years later, Amu’s director Shonali Bose cast him in another film. However, this was one of the critical works of contemporary cinema. The name of the movie was Margarita with a Straw. Here, Singh also played the father of Kalki Koechlin’s character. 
  • He also worked in Aspirants as Walia Uncle.
