Munawar Faruqui was born on January 28, 1992, in Junagadh, Gujarat, to an Indian Muslim family.

Career of Munawar Faruqui

Controversy

Faruqui went on tour throughout India, playing stand-up comedy in several places. He gave a stand-up concert at Munro Cafe in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on January 1, 2021. Eklavya Singh Gaur, the son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur and a member of the Hind Rakshak Sangathan, interrupted it, accusing him of making nasty jokes against Hindu deities and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In the middle of his comedy routine on January 2, he was arrested by Madhya Pradesh Police. He was arrested under India’s hate speech legislation, Sections 295-A, 298,269,188, and 34 of the IPC, according to the police.
