Adil Hussain was born in 1963. His birthplace is Goalpara, Assam. He also belongs to an Assamese Muslim family. Adil’s father was a teacher. Also, he was the youngest of seven children. When he was in school, he did school plays. Afterwards, Adil left home at age 18 to study philosophy at B. Borooah College, Guwahati. Then, he started acting in college plays and performing as a stand-up comedian. Adil also mimicked popular Bollywood actors in between the performances of a local stand-up comedian group, the Bhaya Mama Group. Moreover, he worked as a stand-up comedian for six years, before moving to Delhi. Next, he studied at National School of Drama (1990–1993). Adil also studied at the Drama Studio London on a Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship.

Career

Adil Hussain came back to Assam after completing his course on acting and joined Hengul Theatre. He also worked there for three years. Afterwards, he went to Delhi to get training at Sei Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry. He was also trained with Dilip Kumar. Adil also started his acting in movies with Sutrapaat, Xonkolpo, Puta Putra, Bhai Bhai, etc. In 2004, he did his Bengali film debut in a lead role in the movie Iti Srikanta. From 2022-2003 he appeared in a TV show named Jasoos Vijay.

However, he came into the spotlight with the film Kaminey starring Shahid Kapoor. He also appeared in movies like Agent Vinod, English Vinglish, Bombay, Lootera, Ishkiya, The Xpose, Commando 2, etc.

Recently, he appeared in the web series Delhi Crime Season 2 aired on Netflix.
