Adnan Sami is an Indian singer, musician and music composer. He primarily performs Indian and Western music in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil movies. Adnan was also awarded Padma Shri in 2020 for his remarkable contribution to music. He primarily plays the piano. Adnan is the fastest keyboard player in the world and can easily play as many as 35 musical instruments. He has been credited as “the first musician to have played the santoor and Indian classical music on the piano”.

Career

Adnan started his singing career with the song “Run for His Life”. This song was released in 1986. It was in English, and recorded for UNICEF. Then in 1994, he got a chance to compose music for a film for the first time. Sami also collaborated with Asha Bhonsle on a collection of love songs named Kabhi to Nazar Milao. According to Business Week magazine, about 4 million copies of the album was sold in India.

In 2001, he sang a song named ‘Tu sirf mera mehboob’ of film Ajnabee. This song became a superhit of that year. He was made the brand ambassador of ‘Pepsi’ in 2002. In the same year his album Tera Chehra was released. It was also loved by people very much. He then composed music for several other Hindi films, including Lucky: No Time for Love, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke, Dhamaal, 1920, Mumbai Salsa, Khubsoorat, Sadiyaan, Shaurya and many others.

Adnan has also been the host of Indian version of the American music game show “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”. The name of the show was Bol Baby Bol. This show aired on the Star TV network in 2008. He came back as a judge on the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs. He also did a qawwali song “Bhar Do Jholi Meri” in the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
