• Vij when she was 17 started her career in modelling. She was chosen as the female lead in the TV series Akela.
• Her debut movie film was in Malayalam alongside Malayalam star Mammootty, Aparichithan.
• She portrayed the lead role of Pratha in the Sahara One show Shubh Kadam. Her famous role was that of protagonist Nakusha in the TV show Laagi Tujhse Lagan on Colors TV, which got her the Gold Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role in 2011. 
• In 2013, she and her husband Jay Bhanushali participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye 5, which they won. She was one of the contestants of Khatron Ke Khiladi 5; however, she had to leave the game due to a leg injury. She participated in season 4 of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as a contestant.
