Dhaakad is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action film starring Kangana Ranaut. This movie is also directed by Razneesh Ghai and produced by Soham Rockstar Entertainment, Sohel Maklai Productions and Asylum films. Dhaakad stars Kangana Ranaut alongside Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta, with Saswata Chatterjee in a supporting role.

Storyline of Dhaakad

Agent Agni, played by Kangana, is an International Task Force (ITF) officer. She is also an orphan and ruthless in her tactics of handling terrorists and criminals. Agni is then raised by an ITF officer. She is sent to Budapest to gather details about a arms trafficking and human trafficking racket.

The Dhaakad’s plot also changes when it was known that the mastermind of the racket is Rudraveer and his partner, Rohini. The first one is a mysterious character, who operates from Sohagpur Coal Fields near Bhopal, India. Agni is then sent to collect information on Rudraveer. She did not wanted to go at first, as her parents died in India. However, she goes and does not realize that she is going through with the toughest mission of her life.

Ratings and reviews

Dhaakad received mixed reviews from critics, and was a major box office disaster. Moreover, on its eight day, the film sold only 20 tickets. Hence, this movie collected mere Rs 4,420, which quickly became a meme material among the netizens. Dhaakad also received 4.6/10 IMDb stars.

Release date

Dhaakad was released theatrically on 20 May 2022 along with  Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. At first, the film waa about to release on Diwali (November) 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the film got postponed. Dhaakad got postponed again and a new release date, 8 April 2022, was announced on 18 October 2021. This movie also came to OTT (Zee5) on 1 July 2022.

Kangana Ranaut

• Her real name is ‘Kangana Amardeep Ranaut.’
• Kangana was born in Bhambla, Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh, on March 23, 1987.
• Kangana wanted to be a doctor, but she didn’t take the AIPMT and she failed the Chemistry unit test in Class 12.
• She arrived in Delhi at the age of 16 and began modelling for the Elite Modeling Agency in France.
• Mahesh Bhatt thought she was too young for the job. However, Ranaut was cast instead.

Arjun Rampal

• Arjun Rampal belongs to a multicultural family with a military background.
• He was born to a Sikh father and a Dutch mother.
• Arjun’s maternal grandfather, Brigadier Gurdayal Singh was an engineer who contributed to making the first artillery gun for the Indian army, after independence.

• Arjun also set up his own production company named “Chasing Ganesha Films.”
• Rampal at first denied to play the negative role in the film “Om Shanti Om” because he thought that his part was too evil. However, SRK convinced him and he did the role.

Divya Dutta

• She is an Indian film actress and model who is noted for playing a wide variety of roles in various film genres.
• Divya also lost her father when she was just 7 years old.
• Divya also made her acting debut in 1994 with the superhit film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna.
• Dutta has played more than 60 roles in Hindi cinema, which also includes two international films.

Saswata Chatterjee

• He is an Indian film and television actor.
• He worked as a theatre actor with Jochhon Dastidar’s theatre group, Charbak fro six years. Later, he joined his father’s theatre group, Biswarupa.
• Saswata also acted in Saibal Mitra’s TV serial, which is based on Samaresh Majumdar’s Kaalpurush.
• He also appeared as Topshe in a television series directed by Sandip Ray.
