Dimple Kapadia is one of most famous Indian Film Actresses. The filmmaker Raj Kapoor discovered her at age of 14. He liked her personality and casted her for the role of his teen romance “Bobby”. She wanted to become an actress from a young age.

Personal Life

Dimple Kapadia was born on 8 June 1957 in Bombay. Her father’s name is Chunibhai Kapadia. He is a Gujarati businessman. Her mother’s name is Bitti, who was known as “Betty”. She completed her primary education from St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Mumbai.

At age 15, she got married to the actor Rajesh Khanna, then aged 30, after a short courtship. Having been a fan of Khanna, she later said the wedding was the “biggest high” of her life during this period. Dimple got married in the year 1973 and soon in 1982 got divorced. She gave birth to two daughters, Twinkle (born 1974) and Rinke (1977).

Career

At the age of 14, Kapadia performed a audition for the film on the sets of one of Kapoor’s productions. Everyone was impressed with her spontaneity and improvisation. They casted her in the part. The film named Bobby, was released in September 1973. The story is about the love affair between Raj and Bobby. But their parents were against of their relationship due to class differences. The film was a huge success and she received many awards also for the film.

Kapadia returned to the industry in 1984, two years after her divorce. She said that she had a personal need to prove her own abilities to herself. In 1987, Kapadia appeared in Rajkumar Kohli’s movie Insaniyat Ke Dushman and Mukul Anand’s Insaaf. Both were action films and were popular among the people. In Insaaf, she played the dual role. Later in the same year, she played the role of Pooja in Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Kaash.

Later in all these years she has done a lot of work in the industry. She appeared in many films like Patiala House, Welcome back, Dabbang, Angreji Medium etc. In her first film of the 2020s, Kapadia appeared alongside Irrfan Khan in the comedy-drama Angrezi Medium.

In 2022, she is playing the role of Parul in her upcoming movie “Brahmastra”. It is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language fantasy adventure film. It is written and directed by Ayan Mukerji, and produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions. The movie features Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. The film is intended to serve as the first film in a planned trilogy.
