Early Life and Family
Divya was born in Bangalore. Her father works as a nephrologist for Apollo Hospitals. While her mother is a programming executive for the television network Doordarshan. Her parents have only one child. Divya’s father taught her science as a youngster.

Divya did her schooling at Frank Anthony Public School. After graduating in 2007, she met Byju Raveendran, who taught her GRE prep course. Byju was impressed by her skills and therefore, he asked her to become a teacher.
Her career as a teacher began in 2008 at age 21. In 2020, she told Fortune India, “They were just a couple of years younger than me so to look mature I wore a saree to the class.” During her teaching career, she taught mathematics, English, and logical reasoning.

In 2011, Divya and her husband co-founded Byju’s, an online education app. Initially, the company offered in-person education to modify classroom learning. But in 2015, it launched an online app with video lectures.

The app even helps students and their parents to keep a record of the academic performance. This app became very popular and soon many people had started using it.
