Early life, family, and education

Emiway Bantai was born as Bilal Shaikh. He was born on 13 November 1995. His birthplace is Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Also, he belongs to a middle-class orthodox Muslim Family. Eventually, Bilal adopted the stage name “Emiway,” which is a combination of the names of Eminem and Lil Wayne, i.e., Emi from Eminem and Way from Wayne.

Emiway did his schooling from LHS, Mumbai. Moreover, he was good at his studies till the 10th standard. However, he shifted his focus towards rap when he reached his 11th class. Unfortunately, Bilal failed in the 12th standard and went through depression.

Bilal Shaikh Career

Emiway Bantai initially started making rap videos for fun. However, after receiving an overwhelming response, he started taking rap seriously. Firstly, he made his debut with “Glint Lock” ft. Minta in 2013. Like every other self made artist, he struggled a lot. He worked as a helper at the ‘Hard Rock Cafe’ to earn money. Moreover, Emiwaybdid not take any monetary support from his family for making rap music. During his initial days, Bantai rapped in the English language only. However, one day his father advised him to rap in Hindi so that it could be easily understood by the Indians. In 2014, he did his first Hindi rap “Aur Bantai” which was an instant hit.

In 2016, he had also auditioned at the popular Indian reality show- India’s Got Talent. Again, in 2016, Bantai received the Radio City Freedom Award in ‘Hard Rock Cafe.’

In 2017, he came to spotlight with the song “#Sadak,” which was in collaboration with the rapper Raftaar. Later, in 2018, Emiway appeared into a diss war with Raftaar and released his diss track titled “Samajh Mein Aaya Kya,” to which Raftaar responded with “Sheikh Chilli.” In reply of Sheikh Chilli, Bantai released a song titled “Giraftaar”.

He also appeared in Bollywood with “Asli Hip-Hop” from Zoya Akhtar’s film “Gully Boy” in 2019. In 2020, he released Khatam Huye Wande, which had more than 26 crore views on his Youtube channel. In 2022, he released Chusamba which is trending and already has more than 1.9 crore views.

His Youtube channel has more than 1.82 Crore subscribers and 204 videos.
