On 9 July 2022, Noida police arrested Gaurav Taneja. His wife, Ritu Rathee requested his fans to gather at a metro station to celebrate his birthday. Taneja was first imprisoned by the police for breaking the prohibitory orders which have been charged in Noida because of rising COVID-19 cases. Then he was arrested under section 144, section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) of the IPC. He was granted bail for few hourse after the arrest.
