Harsh Mayar (born March 22, 1998) is an Indian actor who has appeared in Hindi Bollywood films. For his work in the 2011 film I Am Kalam, he received the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

Harsh Mayar starred in a student film as the lead. The film’s title is “Untitled – The Words Left Unsaid,” directed by “Sachin Aggarwal.” In this 8-minute short film, Harsh plays “Nitin,” a 15-year-old teenager who is alone in his home and sends letters to his mother. The film was shot in the Makrauli village of Rohtak District.

Career of Harsh Mayar

  • Mayar began his career while he was only eight years old, in 2005.
  • Because his parents couldn’t afford the cost of his acting classes, he was sent to Shri Ram Center in Delhi which was run by his uncle Sunil Kumar. He performed 5–6 stage shows throughout that time.
  • Following that, he conducted 180 auditions for singing, dancing, and acting.
  • He was cast in Chillar Party, but he didn’t fit the part and decided not to work on the film after breaking his right hand on set.
  • He got a call for an audition after a few months, when his hand was back to normal. Mayar was initially uninterested, but his parents persuaded him to attend the audition, which he did.
  • He received a call within a week and was cast in the film I Am Kalam. He teamed with emerging director Nila Madhab Panda, veteran actor Gulshan Grover, and comedic actor Pitobash Tripathy on the film, which was shot in Rajasthan in 2009.
  • On August 5, 2011, I Am Kalam was released. Mayar’s performance in I Am Kalam earned him numerous international accolades.
  • He was also named the best child artist at the 58th National Film Awards. Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid, his next film, was released in 2012.
  • He co-starred with Soha Ali Khan in the Bollywood thriller Chaarfutiya Chhokare (1 August 2014), written and directed by Manish Harishankar.
