Kanika Kapoor (born 21 August 1978) is a singer from India. Her hometown is Lucknow, where she was born and raised. She had always wanted to be a singer, but she married businessman Raj Chandok in 1998 and relocated to London, where she had three children. After her divorce from Raj in 2012, she moved to Mumbai to pursue a career as a singer.
Kapoor’s debut song, “Jugni Ji,” was for a music video, and it was a commercial hit. She made her Bollywood playback singing debut in 2014 with the song “Baby Doll” for the film Ragini MMS 2. When the song was released, it topped the music charts, after that Kapoor gained widespread critical praise and multiple awards for her vocal technique.

Early Life
Kanika Kapoor was born on August 21, 1978, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She was born Punjabi Hindu Khatri family of the Kapoor clan; under the Dhai Ghar family group. Her father, Rajeev Kapoor, is a businessman and her mother, Poonam Kapoor, is a boutique owner.
Kapoor began studying classical music at the age of 12 with Varanasi artist Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra. In her childhood, she competed in several music competitions at school. She began her career with All India Radio at the age of 15. Kanika has also joined bhajan singer Anup Jalota on his shows.
She received her B.A. and Masters’s degrees in music from the Bhatkhande Music Institute in Lucknow. She later shifted to Mumbai to make a career in music.

Controversies
Singer/Music Producer Dr Zeus was unhappy with Kanika as he was not named as the producer of her debut song ‘Baby Doll’. He expressed his anger and said that Meet Bros took credit of his hard work.
Secondly, Kanika Kapoor, who tested COVID positive in March 2020, had to face severe anger for not practicing social distancing after she returned from London, during the pandemic.
