Neetu Singh was born as Harneet Kaur. Later she changed her name. She is an Indian actress who is known for appearing in Hindi films throughout the late 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s. Now, she is making her comeback with the Dharma Productions film Jug Jugg Jeeyo.

Personal Life

Neetu Singh was born on 8 July 1958 in Delhi. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. She did her primary schooling from Hill Grange High School, Mumbai.

Her father’s name is Late Darshan Singh, and her mother’s name is Late Rajee Kaur. She is the only child of her parents. When she was too young, her father passed away.

She met the veteran Bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor while shooting for a film. In 1979, Rishi Kapoor proposed her, and after dating for five years the couple tied the knot on 22 January 1980.

Neetu gave birth to her first child, Riddhima Kapoor on 15 September 1980. Riddhima is a fashion designer. Neetu’s second child is the famous Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor, who was born on 28 September 1982.

On 30 April 2020, her husband, passed away after a two-year-long battle with leukaemia in Mumbai.

Career

Neetu made her debut as a child actor in the film, ‘Suraj’ in 1966. She has acted as a child actor in many Bollywood films, like ‘Dus Lakh’ (1966), ‘Do Kaliyaan’ etc.

Neet has acted Rishi Kapoor (her husband) in 12 Bollywood films, including ‘Zehreela Insaan (1974), ‘Khel Khel Mein’ (1975), ‘Rafoo Chakkar’ (1975), ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ etc.

After getting married she took a break from Bollywood at the age of 21. After almost 26 years, she made a comeback in 2009 with a Bollywood film, ‘Love Aaj Kal;’ alongside her husband. Later, she appeared as a supporting actor in the films, like ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ (2010), ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2012), and ‘Besharam’ (2013).

Now again she has made her comeback with the Dharma Productions film Jug Jugg Jeeyo. This film is going to release in theatres on 24 June 2022.
