As an Actor

Prakash Raj started his acting career by doing back to back stage shows for Rs. 300 a month. He has also done 2,000 street theatre plays to his credit.

Prakash started his career in television by acting in serials like Bisilu Kudure and Guddada Bhootha which appeared on Doordarshan. Then, he got opportunity to work in Kannada films where he works in a supporting roles. His famous Kannada films were Ramachari, Ranadheera, Nishkarsha and Lockup Death.

After this he got a chance to appear in a lead role in the movie named ‘Harakeya Kuri’, which was directed by K.S.L. Swamy. His partner Geetha noticed his acting and introduced him with her mentor named K. Balachander who is a Tamil Director. Then, he appeared in Tamil TV serials like Chinna Chinna Aasaigai, Sahana and many more. He again joined Kannada film industry and acted in various movies like Anukoolakkobba Ganda, Mallige Hoove, Seizer and K.G.F: Chapter 2 and many more.

He has done many Tamil movies also like, Kalki, Iruvar, Jai Bhim and many more. In 2013, he has also hosted the Tamil TV quiz show named ‘Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kod’.

Not only this, but he has also appeared in an English film CandyFlip in 2016. He also had done acting in Hindi films like Khakee in 2004, Wanted in 2009, Singham in 2011, Dabangg 2 in 2012 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013.

Prakash Raj is also a Producer as well as a Director. He has also produced many films under his film production banner ‘Prakesh Raj Productions’. Some of his Tamil movies like Daya in 2002, Azhagiya Theeye in 2004, Mozhi in 2007, Abhiyum Naanum in 2008 and Mayilu in 2012. Some of his Kannada films are- Puttakkana Highway in 2011, Idolle Ramayana in 2016, and Arishadvarga in 2020. He has also produced Tamil web-series like Navarasa in 2021 and Anantham in 2022.

• In 2008, he got banned five times from working in Telugu Films. This is because of his unprofessional attitude during the shootings. This decision was taken by top production houses of the Telugu film industry.
• Prakash Raj was a friend of an Indian journalist which turned activist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, outside her residence in Bengaluru in 2017. So, for this, he raise his voice and also started a campaign named #justasking on his social media accounts. So, he passes negative remarks against PM Narendra Modi.
• He got a huge backlash for a dialogue in the movie, Singham in 2011. In this movie, he played the role of Jaikant Shikre. So, he said ‘that he will bring around 1000s of people from the Karnatak border to thrash Bajirao Singham. Kannadigas hated this dialogue and they started protesting against Prakash Raj. Thus, the Karnataka film ‘KFCC’ demanded the deletion of this scene from the film. That’s why the makers deleted that scene from the film and also the team of ‘Singham’ apologies for the same.
