Early Life of Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam was born in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, to a Hindu Brahmin family raised in Chandigarh. Mukesh Gautam, her father, is a Punjabi film director. He is the Vice President of PTC Network.

 Anjali Gautam is her mother’s name. Surilie Gautam, her younger sister, made her big-screen debut in the Punjabi film Power Cut. Yami has a brother named Ojas Gautam, and he is younger than Yami.

 Yami completed her formal education and then went to college to get a master’s degree in law honors. As a young girl, she hoped to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), but at the age of 20, she decided to pursue a career in acting.

Even though she was studying Law Honors (first-year PU Law Student), she left full-time academics to do acting.

Recently, she has been doing her part-time graduation from Mumbai. She likes reading, interior decoration, and listening to music.

Television Career

Gautam was 20 years old when she moved to Mumbai to make a career in the film industry. Her television debut was in Chand Ke Paar Chalo.

In Rajkumar Aaryyan, she continued to play the lead. Following this, she made her television debut in Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, which aired on Colors.

She has also been on the reality series Meethi Choori No. 1 and Kitchen Champion Season 1.

Film Career

In 2010, Yami made her debut in the Kannada film Ullasa Utsaha. The film underperformed at the box office, although her performance was praised.

Then, in 2011, she made her Telugu cinema debut with Nuvvila. This was a hit and earned positive reviews from viewers and critics.

In 2012, she made her Bollywood debut in Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. Yami was praised for playing a young and smart Bengali girl. Actor John Abraham produced it.

Yami married director Aditya Dhar in a small ceremony on June 4 2021. She says the pair would have chosen a low-key wedding even if the coronavirus outbreak was not there.
Gautam, 32, and Dhar married in front of 20 guests in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Dhar, 38, directed Gautam in Uri – The Surgical Strike, a 2019 blockbuster.
