Early life, family and education of Ali Fazal
Ali Fazal was born on 15 October 1986. His birthplace is Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Also, he has always had an acting bug in him since his school days. He also used to participate in school plays. Ali was also selected to play the role of Trinculo in Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest. Before getting into the films, he did many commercial ads. He is also a great theatre artist. Ali also belongs to a middle-class Muslim family in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
When his parents got divorced from each other, he was 18 years old. Ali also attended La Martiniere College in Lucknow. Afterward, he completed his schooling at, The Doon School, Dehra Dun. He was also a basketball player during his school time. Moreover, he always wished to represent India at the International level.
After schooling, Ali Fazal’s parents wanted Ali to pursue Engineering. However, he convinced his parents and completed his graduation in economics from St. Xavier’s College.

Ali was also awarded the title ‘Most Desirable Men’ by The Times Of India in 2014. He is also best known for his Bollywood debut character, ‘Joy‘ in the film 3 Idiots.
Moreover, Ali has played supporting roles in many Bollywood flicks. Also, being a philanthropist, he joined ‘Fortis’ and ‘NDTV’ organized ‘Cancerthon‘ to create awareness and raise funds for children battling cancer. During the event, he also spoke against smoking.
Career
Ali Fazal first debuted through the English language film, The Other End of the Line in 2008. He then appeared in the American television miniseries Bollywood Hero. Then, after this movie, Always Kabhi Kabhi failed miserably at the box office. Ali also stated in an interview that it was not the right decision to do the film. Ali further revealed that he lost around 15 kgs weight for the film. His film, Fukrey, in 2013 was a breakthrough for Ali, which brought him to the spotlight. Afterward, his career picked up the pace, and he bagged many offers for the lead roles. Later, he played the supporting role in the comedy-drama Bobby Jasoos opposite Vidya Balan. Moreover, the film was well-received. He also made a special appearance in the film, Furious 7, the7th installment in The Fast and the Furious series.
Then Ali was seen in an Indo-American film, For Here Or To Go?. This film was also screened at many International Film Festivals. Afterward, In 2017, he starred in the British-American film Victoria & Abdul. This movie was also premiered at the Venice Film Festival 2017. Recently, his appearance in Mirzapur as Guddu Bhaiya has earned him much appreciation.
Recently, he is also going to appear in Death on the Nile.
Controversies
Ali Fazal sparked a controversy by saying that his co-star in Khamoshiyan, Gurmeet Chaudhary, was cast by the makers to promote the film in 2015. Ali also confessed that Gurmeet had a good fan following and nothing more. He further added that Gurmeet’s “Lord Ram” character in NDTV Imagine’s Ramayana was the only character responsible for his “fan following.”
