Early life, family, and education of Kay Kay Menon

Kay Kay Menon was born on 2 October 1966. He was born into a Nair family in Thiruvananthapuram. However, he was raised in Ambarnath and Pune, Maharashtra. Menon’s father was popularly known as “Cashier Menon”. Kay Kay’s parents moved from Kerala to Mumbai when he was very young. He so considers Mumbai to be his hometown. However, he has confessed to settling in Kerala in future. He was known as Kichu among his friends who studied at St Joseph’s Boys High School in Khadki. 

Menon studied at the St. Joseph High School in Khadki, Pune. Then, he passed his 10th grade in 1981. He also did his bachelor’s (Physics) from Mumbai University. Afterwards, he completed his MBA from the Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA) at the University of Pune. Later, he graduated in 1988 with a major in Marketing.

His initial focus was working in the advertising industry, including Kinetic Honda and Marlboro cigarette advertisements in India.

Personal life of Kay Kay

Kay Kay Menon started his career in theatre productions, where he met his wife, Nivedita Bhattacharya. 


Menon gradually moved to television acting and finally to film acting. Then, he made his film debut with Naseem (1995). Bhopal Express also followed this movie. At first, he worked in TV serials such as Pradhan Mantri, Zebra 2, and Last Train To Mahakali. He was first noticed in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, where fellow newcomer Chitrangada Singh greatly appreciated his performance. 

Menon’s performance as the anguished DCP Rakesh Maria in the movie Black Friday was also liked by the audience. This film was also based on the book by journalist S. Hussain Zaidi on the 1993 Bombay Bomb Blasts.

Then, In 2007, he appeared in the commercially and critically successful Life in a… Metro. Here, he played the character of Shilpa Shetty’s husband, who has an extra-marital affair. In 2008, Kay Kay Menon was highly appreciated for his performance in the film Shaurya as Drona. Menon starred in The Stoneman Murders in 2009, where he played the role of a police officer.

In 2014, he acted in Haider as Khurram Mir. He also appeared in The Ghazi Attack (2019). Menon’s first web series appearance was in Special Ops 2020 and, in 2021, he came back with Special Ops 1.5. He will also be appearing in Special Ops Universe.
