Early life, family and education of Shefali Shah
Shefali Shah was born on 22 May 1972. Her birthplace is Mumbai, Maharastra. Moreover, her parents’ names are Sudhakar Shetty and Shobha Shetty. Her father, Sudhakar, is also a banker at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and her mother is a homeopathy doctor. Also, she is the only child in the house. She was also brought up in Santa Cruz, Mumbai, at the RBI quarters. There, she also attended Arya Vidya Mandir School. Shefali is also fluent in Tulu, Hindi, English, Marathi, and Gujarati.
Personal Life
Shefali Shah was married to television actor Harsh Chhaya in 1994. However, they parted in 2000. Afterward, in December 2000, she was married director Vipul Amrutal Shah, with whom she has two sons.
Career
Early career
After finishing her early education from Arya Vidya Mandir at Santacruz, Mumbai, Shefali Shah jumped to college for further studies. During her further studies, she participated in theatre activities, drama, play, and more. Afterward, she adopted acting professionally. Then she did “Ant Vagarni Antakshari” Gujarati drama. Later on, her work was forgotten by people. However, she gave a brilliant performance in this drama.
Furthermore, she began her acting career with Television series named “Naya Nukkud” in 1993. It was telecasted on Doordarshan Channel. Afterward, she entered the film industry in 1996 with the movie “Rangeela.” The actress also played a short role as “Gulbadan,” which grasped a lot of attention from people. She also admired her character “Pyarri Mhatre” in the film “Satya,” released in 1998, and also won the Film Fare award for this movie.
Afterward, she became the spotlight in the entertainment industry and did numerous films, including “Mohabbatein” (2000), “Gandhi, My Father” (2007), “Dil Dhadakne do” (2015), “Brothers” (2015), “Once Again” (2018), and so on.
Apart from this, Shefali also worked in many Television series such as “Delhi Crime,” aired on Netflix in 2019. Then she appeared in “Hasratein,” and “Ramayan” (2008) aired on national television.
Her recent works
Shefali was also seen in the 2021 Netflix original anthology series of four short stories Ajeeb Daastaans.
She also appeared on various other projects such as Human, aired on Hotstar. This series was also directed by her husband, Vipul Shah.
She is also starring in Doctor G and working in the upcoming movie Darlings. Shefali has the second season of Delhi Crime lined up.
Recently, she was also seen in the movie Jalsa.
