Sanjay Mishra is a popular Indian film actor. He is also an alumnus of the National School of Drama. Also, he made his first acting debut in 1995 with the film Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India! Afterward, he appeared in multiple popular films including Rajkumar (1996) and Satya (1998). He then also appeared as Apple Singh (icon) by ESPN Star Sports during Cricket World Cup 1999. Later, he also received Filmfare Award for Best Actor (critics) in 2015 for his performance in Ankhon Dekhi.

Early life, family and education of Sanjay Mishra

Sanjay Mishra was born on 6 October 1963. His birthplace is Darbhanga, Sakri, Narayanpur, Bihar. He also belongs to a middle-class family. His father’s name is Shambhu Nath Mishra who was an employee at the Press Information Bureau. Moreover, both his grandparents were Indian Civil Servants. Afterward, his father got transferred he moved to Varanasi, where he studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya BHU. Sanjay also joined the National School of Drama and graduated in 1989.

Career

Early career

Sanjay Mishra started his career with many commercials and small movie roles. Afterward, he got the opportunity to perform with Amitabh Bachchan in Mirinda commercial. In 1991, on his first day of shooting the television series Chanakya, he reportedly took 28 takes. The director left him with an assistant director so that he could rehearse for the shoot. Afterward, he debuted his first released movie Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India! in 1995 in which he played a small part as a harmonium player.

Television and other works

Sanjay later appeared in Satya and Dil Se… Also, these roles helped him in securing the role of Shukla, a corrupt Paan-loving employee, in the famous television Sitcom Office Office. Afterward, he appeared in TV serials before moving to films exclusively. However, he left television serials in 2005 after he got recognition for his role  in Bunty and Babli and Apna Sapna Money Money.

Popularity

In 2006, Sanjay Mishra also appeared in and gained fame from the back-to-back hit films Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and Dhamaal. Afterward, he appeared in small roles in many multi-starer big banner films. Phas Gaye Re Obamawas a serious comedy based on the recession. Besides working in the Hindi film industry, he has also acted in Bhojpuri cinema. His only Bhojpuri release until date is Rang Li Chunariya Tere Naam.

Afterward, in 2014, he played the critically acclaimed role of a male protagonist in the film Aakhon Dekhi directed by Rajat Kapoor. Also, His dialogue “Dhondu, Just Chill” and comic timing in All The Best gained him wide recognition. Then, he appeared in movies like Bhoothnath Returns, Kick, and Dum Laga Ke Haishaa.

In the year, 2013, he also acted as leading actor in the film Saare Jahan Se Mehengaa. He has worked mainly in Hindi, as well as Telugu, Bhojpuri and Punjabi.

His films Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Dilwale and many small budget films released in 2015, all brought him accolades. During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, he also did a commercial called Mauka Mauka.

In 2017 he worked in Mangal HoGolmaal Again, and Newton movies. 

Personal life of Sanjay

Sanjay Mishra is married to Kiran Mishra in 2009. Both have two children Pal Mishra and Lamha Mishra.
