Sumukhi Suresh (born October 18, 1987) is an Indian actor, comedian, writer, and director. She is well-known for her comedic skits. She creates and stars in them for both live and online performances. Sumukhi Suresh was nicknamed “India’s Tina Fey” by Hindustan Times in an online article.

Early Life and Family
Sumukhi Suresh grew up in Nagpur, even though her mother is from Tamil Nadu. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Chennai’s M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women. Suresh began working at Hippocampus, a Children’s Library, in Bengaluru in 2009. She subsequently went on to work as a chef and for a short time at a food laboratory.
While working at the laboratory in 2013, Sumukhi joined The Improv, an improvised comedy event in Bengaluru. Sumukhi appeared in 100 shows alongside the rest of the Improv crew in Bengaluru, Dubai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Sweden. She left her full-time job in 2015 to pursue a career in comedy.

Anu Aunty- Engineering Anthem with Varun Agrawal was Sumukhi’s debut video. Sumukhi gained fame after starring in the YouTube series, Better Life Foundation, as ‘Sumukhi Chawla,’ an NGO employee. Sumukhi has appeared in comedy events alongside Naveen Richard, the show’s creator. She also became well-known for her stand-up comedy event “Disgust Me,” which is solely open to women.
After her role in Better Life Foundation, Sumukhi launched a video series called Behti Naak on her own YouTube channel. In the video series, she plays Behti Naak, a 10-year-old girl with a deadpan style of humour. The videos became viral.
Recent Works
Sumukhi was approached by Amazon Prime Video to make a web-series, and hence ‘Pushpavalli’ was created.
Sumukhi was invited a second time by Amazon Prime India. She was asked to create a one-hour online program called Don’t Tell Amma.
Sumukhi, along with Naveen Richard, co-created the Prime Video show Go Straight Take Left. The show is a compilation of six sketches.
Sumukhi Suresh and comedian Abish Mathew co-hosted the first season of Prime Video’s online series Comicstaan in 2018. She was a judge in the second season of the same show.
Sumukhi appeared in the Kannada film Humble Politician Nograj, which was released in 2018.
She told newsX that the comedy business is still at its peak and that it is still a community rather than an enterprise. She also believes that social media and live events are both crucial in comedy and cannot be replaced.
