Thomas James, also known as Manikuttan or ‘MK,’ is an Indian actor who works primarily in the Malayalam Film Industry. He is most known for his role as Kayamkulam Kochunni in Surya TV’s popular TV serial of the same name, which aired in 2004. For long years, he was a member of the Kerala Strikers team in the Celebrity Cricket League. In 2021, he was crowned the winner of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3.
He was born on 2 March 1986, in Nalumukk, a village near Kudappanakunnu and Peroorkada in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. His father’s name is James and mother’s name is Eliyamma. He studied B.Com at Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram after attending St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Pattom, Trivandrum.

Career of Manikuttan

He made his acting debut in the TV serial Kayamkulam Kochunni in 2004 which aired on Surya TV.

Varnachirakukal was his first film where he played as a child actor in 1999. In 2004, he starred in the campus film Oru Peelekanenta Oormakke, which was produced by Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram. In the Malayalam film Boy Friend (2005), directed by Vinayan, he made his first appearance. He has appeared in significant films such as Mamangam (2019), Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (2019), and others.

In February 2021, he competed in the third season of Asianet’s reality TV programme Bigg Boss Malayalam, hosted by Mohanlal. For his appearance on the show, he received a lot of positive feedback from the audience. The show was cancelled after the 96th episode owing to the pandemic, but a winner was chosen by voting. He was chosen as the winner by voting.
