Early life, family, and education of Vijay Sethupathi

Vijay Sethupathi’s real name is Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi.’ He was born on Monday, 16 January 1978. His birthplace is the Rajapalayam City of Tamil Nadu. Also, His zodiac sign is Capricorn. Vijay’s father’s name is Kalimuthu, who was a civil engineer. Also, his mother’s name is Saraswathi. Then, he has two brothers named Anna and Thambi and a sister named Thangachi. 

Vijay completed his primary education at MGR Higher Secondary School in Kodambakkam. Later, he also moved to Little Angels Mat HR Sec School. Afterward, he pursued his Bachelors in Commerce from Dhanraj Baid Jain College in Chennai. 

Personal life of Vijay Sethupathi

Vijay Sethupati firstly met Jessie online. Afterward, they both fell in love. Later, Jessie and Vijay also got married in 2003. The couple also has two children. Also, they named their son Surya and their daughter Shreeja.

Career

In 2004, Vijay Sethupathi joined the theatre group ‘Koothu-P-Pattarai’ as an accountant and also as an actor. He then started as a supporting actor. As a supporting actor, he played the role of the lead’s friend. The first film Vijay worked in was “M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi in 2004.

Here, he also played the role of a boxing spectator. Afterward, the director Suseenthiran recommended his name to Seenu Ramasamy. Seenu then gave him his first lead role in the Tamil film “Thenmerku Paruvakaatru in 2010. Vijay made his television debut with the Tamil serial “Penn (2006).”

Then, He appeared in a negative role in the Tamil film “Sundarapandian (2012).” Later, he has also appeared in several hit films such as Pizza (2012), Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara (2013), Rummy (2014), Orange Mittai (2015), Sethupathi (2016), Vikram Vedha (2017), 96 (2018), and Super Deluxe (2019). 

As A Writer, Singer, Lyricist, Director & Producer

Sethupathi worked as a producer, dialogue writer, playback singer, and lyricist in the Tamil film “Orange Mittai (2016).” Vijay also sang the songs “Orange Oru Oorla” and “Straight Ah Poyee” from the movie “Orange Mittai.” He has also produced the film “Junga in 2018.” As of October 2021 he is also the host of MasterChef India – Tamil, which started on 7 August 2021 on Sun TV Network.

Controversies 

• In 2019, Vijay also stated that the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s stand on the Sabarimala issue was correct. There was no point in banning women from entering the temple during their menstruation. Vijay even said that the caste system in the Indian Society was meaningless. After which, Vijay was brutally trolled for his statements on social media. Some even claimed that he was trying to tarnish the Hindu religion.

In 2019, fake photos were circulating, in which Vijay was seen making a controversial statement against ‘Bhagwat Gita.’ The statement read- Bhagavad Gita isn’t a holy book. The current poor situation in our society is due to such books fabricated out of imagination.”

• Initially, Vijay Sethupathi did many odd jobs – a salesman at a retail store, a cashier at a fast-food joint, and a phone booth operator.
• Vijay started his acting career in 2004 with the role of ‘Boxing spectator’ in the Tamil film ”M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi.”
• Sethupathi acted in numerous short films such as ”Thuru,” Neer,” Petti Case,” Raa Vanam,” Kadhal Sutra,” Wind,” and The Angel” Kadhalithu Paar,” and ”Maa Thavam” in 2016.
