Sonia Sanwalka and her father, Milkha Singh, co-wrote his father’s book “The Race of My Life: An Autobiography: A Poetic Journey” in 2012. Rupa Publications released the book on September 11, 2021. The book received mixed reviews from both the general public and critics.

Sonia wrote the Punjabi edition of his father’s memoirs, “Bhag Milkha Bhag,” in 2013.

She has also published the Gujarati edition of “Bhag Milkha Bhag – Milkha Sinhni Aatmakatha” (2014).

Later, in 2013, the Bollywood film “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” was released, which was based on Sonia’s book “The Race of My Life: An Autobiography: A Poetic Journey.”

Milkha Singh, a Sikh youngster born in the 1930s, enjoys racing trains. During India’s partition, many of his Rajput family members, including his parents, were slaughtered. He is ultimately able to join the Indian army after numerous efforts. His physical abilities are on display while in the army. He with his hard work anddetermination won gold medals in both the Asian and Commonwealth Games in 1958. Ayub Khan bestows the moniker of The Flying Sikh on him when he wins a friendly race between India and Pakistan in 1960. However, due to a judgement error on the race course, he loses the bronze medal by a fraction of a second at the 1960 Summer Olympics.

Later he marries Nirmal Kaur. Basically she was the former captain of India’s women’s volleyball team, in 1963. So Jeev Milkha Singh, their son, is born in 1971. Jeev, who was also a sportsman, rose to prominence as a world-class golfer.
